“ARTICLE THIRTEEN, No amendment shall be made to the Constitution which will authorize or give to Congress the power to abolish or interfere, within any State, with the domestic institutions thereof, including that of persons held to labor or service by the laws of said State.”

Meaning, the federal government could not overturn slavery, ever. It is as simple as this. If the southern states really left the union merely because of slavery, all that they had to do was to return to the union and ratify this amendment. It is interesting that the only state to ratify this amendment before war broke out was Illinois, the home state of Lincoln. Lincoln was clearly a supporter of this amendment and of the institution of slavery in general. Simply look at his inauguration speech.

” Apprehension seems to exist among the people of the Southern States that by the accession of a Republican Administration their property and their peace and personal security are to be endangered. There has never been any reasonable cause for such apprehension. Indeed, the most ample evidence to the contrary has all the while existed and been open to their inspection. It is found in nearly all the published speeches of him who now addresses you. I do but quote from one of those speeches when I declare that—

‘ I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so.’”

Clearly, the succession of the southern states was not about slavery. If was far more about the destruction of the southern economy by the protectionist tariffs instituted by the federal government. Many condemn those that would even discuss succession as racist and hate mongers. Those people are idiots. To think that one succession would have anything to do with another succession is moronic. The revolutionary war (our succession from Britain) had different origins than the southern states succeeding from the United States (Not to mention the 11 states that succeed from North Carolina and Rhode Island when they ratified the U.S. Constitution while those two states where still under the Articles of Confederation.) There is nothing hateful or racist when talking about succession. In fact, I would contend that it is those who prevent that discussion are the hateful ones since they would retain control through any means possible.

Myth 1: Everyone understands what a “green job” is.
Fact 1: No standard definition of a “green job” exists.

According to the studies most commonly quoted, green jobs pay well, are interesting to do, produce products that environmental groups prefer, and do so in a unionized workplace. Such criteria have little to do with the environmental impacts of the jobs. To build a political coalition, “green jobs” have become a mechanism to deliver something for members of many special interests in order to buy their support for a radical transformation of society. Committing hundreds of billions of dollars to promoting something lacking a transparent definition cannot be justified.

Myth 2: Creating green jobs will boost productive employment.
Fact 2: Green jobs estimates in these oft-quoted studies include huge numbers of clerical,
bureaucratic, and administrative positions that do not produce goods and services for
consumption.

These green jobs studies mistake any position receiving a paycheck for a position creating value. Simply hiring people to write and enforce regulations, fill-out forms, and process paperwork is not a recipe for creating wealth. Much of the promised boost in green employment turns out to be in non-productive – and expensive – positions that raise costs for consumers. These higher paying jobs that fail to create a more eco-friendly society dramatically skew the results in both number of green jobs created and salary levels of those jobs.

Myth 3: Green jobs forecasts are reliable.
Fact 3: The green jobs studies made estimates using poor economic models based on dubious assumptions.

The forecasts for green employment in these studies optimistically predict an employment boom that will take us to prosperity in a new green world. The forecasts, which are sometimes amazingly detailed, are unreliable because they are based on:

a) Questionable estimates by interest groups of tiny base numbers in employment,
b) Extrapolation of growth rates from those small base numbers, that does not take into consideration that growth rates eventually slow, plateau and even decline, and
c) A biased and highly selective optimism about which technologies will improve.
Moreover, the estimates use a technique (input-output analysis) that is inappropriate to the conditions of technological change presumed by the green jobs literature itself. This yields seemingly precise estimates that give the illusion of scientific reliability to numbers that are actually based on faulty assumptions.

Myth 4: Green jobs promote employment growth.
Fact 4: By promoting more jobs instead of more productivity, the green jobs described in the literature actually encourage low-paying jobs in less desirable conditions. Economic growth cannot be ordered by Congress or by the United Nations (UN). Government interference in the economy – such as restricting successful technologies in favor of speculative technologies favored by special interests – will generate stagnation.

Now, I’m not too religious, but my god, what is wrong with this country. Oh, I know, the government wants to control how everything is done everywhere. In the name of the public safety, the government regulates almost every aspect of our lives. It tells us how we have to build a house, how we build a car, how we make a new drug. Do you ever wonder why we are still driving cars with basically the same technology as Henry Ford was pumping out 100 years ago. It is not merely because of the greed of the oil companies. It is not because the combustion engine is the best engine out there. It isn’t even that humans just can’t figure anything better out. For progress to happen there must be diversity in the industry. Not only that, but people must be allowed to take risks on new technologies, even with their own lives. If somebody wants to buy a new unproven technology, they must be allowed to do that, otherwise industry will continue to run at the snail’s pace that it is currently traveling at.

But I digress. What is wrong with a food company extolling the healthy benefits that it has, especially when it has a strong peer reviewed clinical study backing its claim? It isn’t fraud. There really was a study. And it isn’t a drug, so why would the FDA try and claim it is. Let me let you in on a secret that it appears the FDA might not know. There are things other than drugs that can make a person healthy, and yes that can even cure certain diseases. You think they would have put at least one person in charge of this idiotic (not to mention unconstitutional) government agency that knows that. Only idiots must gravitate to the government regulatory business.

Actually, the truth of the matter is that the government seems to only care if they leave gay dating out. I figured to be fair, I should call for a lawsuit on this website and the many other website’s that cater only to the gay orientation.

The double standards of discrimination laws is rediculous and serves to have the opposite effect as the intention. It serves only to deepen the divisions between the groups and to instead deepen racism. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and they are paving a highway straight to hell.

People should be treated as an individual instead of part of a group. Until this happens, racism will never truly be defeated.

What is the problem with this analogy? The problem my children, is that in this country, the president does not write legislation, the US Congress writes it, hence the name legislature. How in the world could the New York Post’s cartoon be referring to the President when he did not write the stimulus bill? Not to mention the recent event in which a pet chimp was shot in Connecticut, and and is obviously what they are referencing in the cartoon to humorous effect.

I have no doubt that the loudest people, like the Rev. Al Sharpton, understand that. They are making a big deal out of this not because they don’t understand how government works, or did not hear about the chimp shooting incident, but because they will do anything in their power to make anything they can about race in order to keep themselves in the spotlight. It is a damn shame that they see race in everything, and is more than like hurting blacks much more than it is helping.

The problem is that if more people understood how the government worked, then Sharpton’s cries and rants about this cartoon would fall on deaf ears like the rantings of a mad man. Throughout the recent presidential race, everywhere I went, folks were talking about how if only Barrack Obama was elected president, then everything would be better,. They were speaking as if he was Jesus Christ himself come again to save us from the evil infidels that have gotten us into this mess. I tried to point out that Bush didn’t single handily screw up this country and Obama cannot single handily turn it around. He is the president, not a living god or even a king. I tried to point out that Obama’s plans weren’t even very different than what Bush and ilk did. They would have none of it.

I blame the public schools. I tend to think that the way to change this country is not from the top down, but from the bottom up, starting with education. People will continue to vote people into office that will take away what little freedom we have left, thinking it is for the common good until we can show them that maximizing freedom is the real common good.

Al Sharpton went even so far as to say that maybe the FCC should review the waiver that allows Murdoch so he could own two radio, two televisions stations and a newspaper. Next time somebody tries to shut you up by saying it is racist (or that you are supporting the terrorists or some other poppycock), dig a little deeper, because they are probably trying to shut up your valid points so that they can push their dumb ones.
