If there was one improvement that I still thought Obama would have over Bush was in transparency of government torture. It turns out, just like the Wars in the Middle East, I was wrong. Salon’s Glenn Greenwald wrote a good article about how Obama and Bush are more and more indistinguishable everyday on the subject [...]

According to this article in the Wall Street Journal, the EU is screwing IBM. Apparently the EU is fining IBM 1.6 Billion Euros because they have allegedly used rebates and direct payments to retailers so that they wouldn’t sell AMD – the biggest competitor to Intel.
I have yet to see the evidence for this, [...]

In the mail today I got about three public notices to various people that have lived here (including myself) about a nearby business requesting a liquor license. According to the notice:
“Pursuant to section 4-60-050 of the Chicago Municipal code, the City is required to send public notice of a new package goods, tavern, or incidental [...]

Beware, the last bastion of freedom in this world, the Internet may soon be free no longer. According to an EFF e-mail I received today, government released documents imply that treaty negotiators are zeroing in on Internet regulation. According to the e-mail they sent me:

Well, it seems that this whole swine flu thing completely overblown by the mass media and the government. With schools closing because of just one possible case of swing flu, you would think this was the Spanish Influenza that killed at least 20 million people worldwide in 1918. Well, it isn’t. It doesn’t have the [...]

I want to congratulate Mr. Steve Bierfeldt for dealing wonderfully with the harassment he sustained from the Transportation Security Administration and the local Police which you can read about here and here. He was on his way home from the Campaign for Liberty Midwest Regional Conference in St. Louis Missouri and was [...]

I’m starting to come to realize something. I’m going to try to hash it out here and maybe write up something more complete at a futur date. Many libertarians feel that if the government would only start actually following the US constitution, that everything would be OK. That we would live in a libertarian utopia. [...]

Every single day I see the stupidity of government, and I find that I am moving more and more away from a minarchist position to an anarcho-capitalist one. One thing I have concluded is that city government is entirely useless. Coming from somebody that grew up in a house where the father was a city [...]

The Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner wants to have the power to take over firms just like the FDIC has the power to take over banks when they are going under and they will “impact the economy.” Do you know what kind of governments take over companies? The communist/fascist/socialist/nazi kinds. It is the kind of [...]
