A Whistle for Everybody

In my searching throughout the Internet I stumbled across the Whistlestop program for the Hyde Park area . Apparently the program is an attempt to get everybody in the neighborhood to carry a whistle with them and they encourages people to “…blow their whistle when you see something menacing about to occur.” Meaning of course , that if you have your whistle with you you can stop all the muggers, rapist, and murderers of the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago.

I have some questions for these Whistlestop people. Does anybody pay attention to the car alarms when they go off? What makes anybody think that somebody is going to pay attention to a whistle?  An even if somebody did pay attention to the whistle, what would that other person do? Would they call 911 just so they cops get there 5 minutes after the other the whistle blower has been killed, possibly getting themselves killed at the same time? What good would it be if the cops showed up even 2 minutes after the the victim has been taken away in a van to some alley to be raped? No good, that’s what. I remember them giving out these whistles in college. They were called “Rape Whistles.” They must have thought that they would be pretty good at preventing rape, they seem like a system for giving a false sense of security.

I have a much better suggestion. This program would be called “Stop Crime Dead.” Here would be it’s version of the whistle.

The Ruger GP-100

The Ruger GP 100, a median large double action revolver made my Rudger. Perfect for the beginner (I always believed revolvers are the best for the beginner because of their simplicity and reliability).  It comes in the .357 Magnum and .38 special versions. A gun that the Libertarian says is built like a tank.  The lighter SP101 would also be available for those who want a smaller one.  This would also include training of course, because a gun (especially a pistol) isn’t any good if you can’t hit anything.

For those who can’t afford the heightened price of a pistol over a whistle, a fund would set up so people could donate to it in order to get one for everybody who needs one (the way it should work to get people things they need).

Let’s look at the above situation again with the victim holding a Ruger GP 100  instead of a whistle. This time when some bastard comes after someone intent on rape or murder, the intended victim would merely brandish their gun and 9 times out of ten the bastard would decide it isn’t worth it and run. For that 10th time, a squeeze of the trigger would stop him dead.

This would be all good and well, but the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois has taken up a policy of victim disarmament.  They would rather see a woman raped and strangled with their own pantyhose than see them with a gun. Residents of a city with one of the highest crime rates in the world have been banned from owning a handgun, and residents of the state live in one of the few remaining states that you cannot carry a weapon concealed on your body.  It goes against reason.
