Welcome to my Blog!
I have once again entered the world of blogging. Two times before have I started a weblog, and two times before I have abandoned it. One of them was even a political blog, although I ended up generally just finding articles I liked and then linking to them. Recent events and my general disappointment of the current state of affairs in this country and around the world has prompted me to start this blog in the hopes that, even if it changes nobody’s mind, I at least have some sort of outlet to vent.
I hope to update this often and I hope that I can provide some clever insight into the working of the world. As the title on this blog suggests I will talk a lot about how government screws shit up and how maybe, if we realized how poorly the government does a job, an alternative solution (sans government) could be found. Don’t get me wrong, I am not an anarchist, but judging by every government endeavor I see, I have become incredibly cynical on it being able to do the simplest of tasks in any manner that could be considered efficient or satisfactory. I suppose the name for that would be libertarian, although that comes with various connotations just like any other political label. The gist of libertarianism is that one person should not initiate force against another person. Since everything the government does involves force, it is anathema of a free society. Then why have government at all? That is a good question. The problem comes when a stronger person initiates force against somebody that cannot defend themselves. Theoretically that is where the government would step in. Unfortunately, as Lord Acton so eloquently put it “Power tends to corrupt,” and it seems that most things that the government does tends to give them more power. In my posts I hope to show that we should look for the solutions to problems elsewhere. If you’re new to the freedom movement, I welcome you and I hope you enjoy the mental ride.
